Education policies also reflect the new importance of the ICT sector. Several years ago, the Government took steps to create the educational environment necessary to sustain the emerging ICT sector and now the Bangladeshi Universities and Institutes of Technology produce in excess of 5000 ICT graduates each year. These institutions have all implemented curricula that compare with those of the best U.S. colleges. In addition, all courses are taught in English. The result is a huge pool of graduates who are technically literate and fluent in English! The Government has also invested heavily in the necessary infratrucure required to support the ICT sector. They recently launched their first submarine fiber optic cable. The cable network, covering some 786 miles across the country from the Bay of Bengal provides a fiber optic link with a data-transfer capacity of 10 gigabits per second, compared to the 150 megabit per second bandwidth which was the previous standard. It’s true that India also shares many of these same attributes but the reality is that labor costs in India have increased significantly in recent years as supply has struggled to keep up with the constant influx of foreign firms. In relative terms, labor costs in India are double those in Bangladesh. The Account Executive is responsible for selling Eton solution services via the telephone and in face-to-face sales appointments.
